Hello Everybody,
For Project 2 I decided to create a bike company called Mantra Mountain Bikes. Mountain biking is and incredibly repetitive sport and so I felt the company name Mantra worked well. The two main things I wanted to display for this bike company was bright vibrant colors and natural scenery. This let me to my two rough versions.
The first one tackles the bright colors. The inspiration for this site was the Indian festival of color Holi. I wanted to use the bright colors and imagery of Holi to capture peoples attention and hopefully keep them on my site. I also felt this tied into the company logo (which is a play on the Hindu symbol "ohm") and name quite nicely. Below is my rough 1.
My second rough I created to highlight natural scenery as well as to highlight the company slogan "Pedal. Rip. Repeat. Find your Mantra". For this I chose to use images of the Himalayas as background imagery and then used the slogan on top for the homepage. I felt this tied into both biking as well as the company name and logo. In addition to add some color to the site I used a red box for the headlines to try and get the site to pop out a little more.

Hi Cedar,
I like how your second set of designs incorporates nature/scenery. I like the logo in your first design, I think It might be a better idea to put that logo for your second set of designs. I think they are more on brand with selling mountain bikes. The splatter paint on the first one gives me more vibes that its a company that sells art supplies rather than mountain bikes.

Hello, Cedar,
Your design is really cool. Especially, I think the first design is strong and colorful. Also, I think it's a dynamic design that fits with the bicycle. I like the first design. And I think your logo is cool. You did great work!

Hi Cedar,
I love the connection you made between mountain biking’s repetitive nature and the Hindi concept of Mantra. I also think it's a great concept to utilize color to pay tribute to the Indian celebration of Holi, but like our peer pointed out, the splatter kind of makes it look more like a paint store than a mountain bike company. I’m thinking that perhaps you could keep the layout of your second rough, but add the mantra logo to it. In order to maintain the vibrant theme of your initial layout and bring everything together, you could continue to pay tribute to Holi by photoshopping the bikes into having bright Holi color schemes as well as naming the bikes after other Hindi symbols. It’s looking great!

Hello Cedar!
I think that you did a wonderful job on this assignment. I love how different each version is. Honestly, I cannot choose between the two because the first version is fun and colorful for the youth, while the second is mature with the nature feel to it and relaxing for mountain bikers and hikers. You made really good color and font choices and you provided your background work (i.e. thumbnails) to share your thought process with us. Job well done!

Hi Cider,
I like the second concept the most! Based on how well you did for Project 1, I think you could excel with that design and add the store front aspect to it. I cannot wait to see this as a full-fledged website! Good luck.

Hi Cedar!
Both of your designs are working really well! The background on your first design is very well throughout and creative, and the colors are super eye-catching. However, the second design really sells the product for me! The scenery images you included creates a very immersive experience and makes me want to check out some trails there! The red borders on the product images also help draw extra attention to the merchandise.

Hi Cedar,
Both of your designs look really well put together, out of the two i really like your second design. I think the background image your used on those layouts works really well with your brand and what your selling. The colors that you used and also your product work well in that layout. I also think that both your designs have great navigation, nothing is hard to find. Great job
