Graphic Design and Typography
Herb Lubalin was an American Graphic Designer and Typorgapher. He was responsible for the graphic art of at least three prolific magazines. Lubalin also designed many transparent typefaces that are still in use whithout notice today. He is freeform typography is still used for reasearch by todays best typographers and designers.
I didnt start studing Herb Lubalin unitl more recently. I chose one of his typefaces to make a specimen sheet from and I was hooked. I really enjoy Lubalins typography. His hand drawin typography has inspired me on many of my designs and I find myslef approaching them with typography in mind first. I am currently working on a series of hand drawn and painted typography posters which some inspiration has come from Lubalin.

Architectural and Organic Design
Frank Lloyd Wright is one of the most famous and infuencial architects in American if not all of architecural history. He was one of the first architects to begin utilizing more open type floorplans, sweepeing veritcal planes and more natural local materials. Wright was known for his extremely hard work ethic amazing pencil renderings.
I studied Frank Wright as soon as I could read. Of any designer (or architect/one in the same) He has had the most profound influence on myself as a designer and artist. There is something tantalizing about how the lines move through his designs. From what I consider the time I started designing I have built a foundation on how I will design from Wrights influence.

Traditional Rendering and Design
Mike Lin is recognized as the most talented traditional rendering teacher and artist in the world. He has a way of painting with markers that is rivaled by other designers and artists. Lin has spent his years holding workshops teaching designers and artists alike how to be a stronger more efficient illustrator and designer.
I was lucky enough to attend one of his workshops and it helped me immensely. Lin taught me how to quickly conceptualize designs and render with confidence. Thru the years my abilities have grown the more I practice the techniques that were instilled in me. Mike lin directly changed how I approach art and design even today.
