Rebecca Baumann - Project 3 - Final Project

Here it is: http://www.grc275.com/student/fall_2013/rebecca_baumann/ I tried to solve the responsive requirement by going with a modular design, rather than shrinking the images with the resolution. It works pretty well for the content pages. The grid goes from a three column, to a two column, and t...

Re: Project 3, 1st critique. Alexey

Hi Alexey - I'll just talk about your latest update, since that's the one your sister approved.

I really like her logo at the bottom, and I'm just wondering if that can be used more effectively to establish her identity. I'd try to incorporate the logo into the navigation so that it's at the top.

Hi Mark - Yeah, I agree with you, the second set with the navy background is working better for me. I like how you've incorporated the artist's work into the background as well as the foreground. I especially like your entry page, that's a nice touch.

Re: Project #3 - Preliminary Roughs, Donna Harn

Hi Donna, I think the second set of layouts is my favorite, mainly because it showcases the artist's work so well. Using full-browser size images makes it feel contemporary, rather than the smaller images on the first layout. The lack of color is bothering me though. I'm not saying you have to inser...

Project 3 Preliminary Critique - Rebecca Baumann

The artist I've chosen is Art Spiegelman. He's a cartoonist who lives in NYC, and he's best known for writing the graphic novel memoirs MAUS, which is about his father's Holocaust experience. Spiegelman's work has a lot of energy, and he doesn't stick to just one graphic style. And yes, he's the ass...

Project 2 Final - Rebecca Baumann

Here it is: http://www.grc275.com/student/fall_2013/rebecca_baumann/ I ended up using vintage illustrations from old advertisements to stand in for my product images, and I like how it ties in with my overall design. My favorite are the "electric" cures, like the Electric Belt with Medicat...

Re: Project 2. First critique. Alexey Makovskiy

Hi Alexey - I'm liking the layout with the yellow headers for each ship. It makes it easier for me to clearly differentiate between your listings, and the white background is also easy on the eyes. The only thing that feels out of place to me is the font you're using on your navigation bar. It doesn...

Re: Project 2 Roughs

I really like what you've done with your product category page. As for the individual product pages, it's a tough call. I actually like both formats, although the second is definitely the more conventional layout for e-commerce sites. The bacon ribbons on the "you may also like" products a...

Re: project two roughs

Hi Mark - I like your use of a box to corral the fan information. I also like how you show the fan at a distance AND closeup at the same time, which is actually pretty damn useful for online shopping. I wonder why other retailers haven't tried that before? I'd play with the color and size of the fon...

Re: Project 2 Roughs - Donna Harn

Hi Donna - I think your use of the lightbox to organize your product page works well. Speaking as someone who doesn't know cheeses very well, I'd definitely like to see a picture along with each cheese name, even if it is only a thumbnail. It's nicely organized, and the cheese photos are beautiful. ...
