project one final

Post by aslychsm »

Hi, all! This is Ashley and here is my website for project one.

Before you click, here are some points of interest ...
  • The 'about page' is really fussy, and sometimes the 'home page' too. Strangely, it looks fine on my desktop at home, but not so much on my macbook (both firefox and safari), or on a different laptop I tried. Soo... there's that.
  • Each page has a different background, and aside from the home page, they all have a dragon silhouette hidden somewhere in them. But I guess it really depends on your resolution whether you can see them or not. Sigh
  • If you have the time, I really encourage you to read what I've written on the 'about' and 'dragons' page! I took this assignment a little too seriously, and nerded-out super hard.
NOW CLICK HERE (:

Anyway, thanks for looking! Feedback is always awesome!

I love the layout of you page its fun and professional looking. I really like the detailed information you put on the about and dragons page! But oh boy my computer must suck in resolution because I'm having a hard time seeing the background images as dragons and for my screen size it pushed the paragraph Faroe Islands out of the white container and past the footer. Probably just my supper old crappy HP computer D: But I can still tell your website looks great really Awesome! :D

I love your page! Not sure why, but in safari, on my mac, everything is perfect, in firefox on my pc, there is a lot of overlap and running off the page. Not sure what will fix that but it's something that you may want to look into. Other than that, it's beautiful!

p.s. I just looked at it on firefox from my mac and things looked fine, maybe it's an issue with windows or HP, my laptop is an hp.

first off, i LOVE your logo! but i do have a mini issue with it on the home page- the description of your business is hard to read.

I love your full image backgrounds, & your about-hatchling title!

I noticed at the top of the page, "contact" doesn't align with the content area-so making the entire content area a little wider to fit the whole nav area?

Looks good!!

That is a really great and imaginative site! Job well done, the about page is great, the only thing I see there is if you gave the same margin you have on the side of the margins on the bottom. I wanted to scroll down to see more, if there was more room at the bottom I know the page is over.

Yay! Ashley has discovered the wonderful world of browser compatibility! Unfortunately, the only real fix for it is tweaking and previewing in a variety of browsers and the usage of browser targeted CSS files. So much fun ... so much ....

But seriously, this is one of the most professional, highest quality web designs I've come across in a classroom setting. It looks like a "real" website (when it deigns to function) where you could really buy a dragon. It has top notch use of contrast, imagery, photography, and layout. I especially like the framing header and footer that make it look like you're looking out a window on to the background image. The logo is absolutely professional looking, though I can't decide if it's for an ivy league university or for a maker of gaming peripherals. The navigation is large and easy to use, without being distracting and I like the little flourish to indicate what page you are on. The typography is appropriate and the justified bodycopy really tightens the whole design up. I also like the use of brush strokes throughout, it gives it a bit of a "novel cover" feeling.

I see only a couple of minor issues. I think the dragon logo on the "Dragons" page is a bit too close to the navigation and I think the navigation could have used different individual button widths so that each button would have the same distance from the edge of the word inside it.

Otherwise, outstanding!

So if I adopt a dragon, I can expect to live like 500-600 years? And I get a flying, fire breathing, cat-dog that I can ride? And totally slay all those who have slighted me? Ever? I am in. I. Am. In.
If we feel useful in life and loved, it sure makes life significant and wonderful

HI Ashley! WOW! I love this idea and your website is professional, artistic, creative, talented, the navigation is easy to find, I love the decoration that you have on your nav buttons (curious how you did those??) it definitely adds character, the background images are perfect with the white, and I can say so much more...Awesome Job! I don't have any suggestions because it is perfect! I can't wait to see what you do with it! :-)

Hi,Ashley
Once again, I love the dragon head you created, cool! I like the lay out, nice ,clean and clear, also I like the menu buttons and the effect of background images. There's only one thing on your 'home page', I probrably will unify it as the lay out as your 'about page’,and put you dragon logo on the place of you “about us” and “Faroe Islands”. over all, awesome: )

Hi Ashley,
Such a great store concept.
The animation blockbuster "how to train your dragon" is one of my favorites.
Not to mention Game of Thrones, Pete's Dragon and Avatar have some of the best Dragons in them ever!
I really like the logo you did, so strong.
Really good effect for selling dragon hatchlings.
You did put lots of info into the About page, loved it.

I would change the color and size of the homepage company name so it stands off of the background.
I would also get some better landscape photos for the background to go with the silhouettes...
Like a very large valley or ocean cliff/seaside like the island you describe
to give you that feeling of being on your dragon flying above everything etc.
I think that would really sell the idea better and those background photos don't do the dragon store justice.

Great start! Good job.

Love the logo, Definitely have to work on the dragon page actually being live but that can come later!!! overall layout, colors, font, and imagery is working great I think.
Design may be king, but typography is the crown.
