project two final critique

Post by aslychsm »

Hi, all!

I've got it to a point that meets all the requirements, but there are still a few things I want to tinker with more.
  • Aside from the new pages, here are some other updates...
  • I made the backgrounds fixed/covered. So you should all be able to spot the dragon silhouettes in the backgrounds (I hope...)
  • I ripped out the "sticky footer", I felt like it was the main cause of all my problems. I quickly discovered that it wasn't. So. Infuriating.
  • There is a form on the contact page. It's not done! I definitely plan on stylizing it.
Also, it's painfully slow to open. Some pages might not load properly... just give it time. And maybe a few refreshes and click-backs. It should come around. It's just stubborn and needs coaxing. My main issue is the breaks between products. It's all inside one big container, set at 100% height, but I'm getting breaks after a certain amount of information is added. Like if it exceeds a full-screened browser window, everything after that point will appear disconnected. (At least on my computer, I fear what it may look like on everyone elses ...)

Anyways, I'll update this more as the changes occur. Thanks for reading! Any tips/comments are great.

Hi Ashley,
As you know I love your concept.
Im buying a dragon so expect an order from me, LOL!

I really like your homepage, the logo is really good.
I like the dragons head with the lines and shapes that make it come out of the misty back ground.
like the dragons coming for you or maybe your coming for the dragon.

I would change the color of the font on the logo on the homepage.
It blends with the background and is hard to read, and in some parts cant read it at all.
I would change the background so that they arn't blurry.
I like the landscapes and dragon shadows idea and thinks it is more effective if its not blurry.

Good job!
Georgia

Hi Ashley! WOW! This turned out perfect girl! Your site is clean, organized, professional, easy to navigate and find products for sale, imagery and color scheme go really well together, and your typography is perfect. I noticed the gap in between each of your products too, dang it! I was curious on why so I explored your code and my guess is that it might have something to do with your <p> tags. Have you tried to take one set of <p></p> off of one of your products to see if it takes the break away. It might work?? Hopefully this helps! Otherwise, awesome job! :-)

Nice! This site is still kicking (dragon) tail, I see.

Everything I said about the first one holds true here as well. It's well laid out. The photographic background does well to establish atmosphere. The imagery is well chosen and reinforces the theme of the site. Everything is easy to find and the navigation is easy to use. It has just the right amount of contrast to highlight text and objects in the content area. Also, is that a functional contact form I spy? Nice!

The big issue I see is some technical layout problems with a few "Buy it Now" buttons falling below their designated boxes and some vertical alignment issues on the footer. I'd also probably add a bit more margin on the initial product categories page. It seems a little close to the right and left edges.

Very nice work!

I totally love this site! You did such a great job with the design and logo. I still have issues on my hp and things overlapping. It looks beautiful on a mac. You rocked this one girl!

I really like your logo and background images.
I think you used your logo and images effectively, but I feel it's too much white space, especially on catalog pages.

Other than that, I love it!
Good job!
