Project 2 Roughs
I plan on sticking with the same layout and background for the logo and navigation bar for the catalog page. Rough 1 didn't work out like I planned. Rough 2 worked a little better. I planning on adding the shopping cart to the each of the products that are listed on the page. The name of each product will go to that page once clicked on.

The layouts are pretty much the same in both. I prefer the smaller text for the product boxes that you used in the second one.
Good luck,

I agree. The images of rough 2 are lined up nicely so it looks less scattered than rough 1, but I like the larger banner of rough 1.

I like how you represent your products with pictures and a label. Will both be clickable?
My eye tends to see the main nav and the product labels all as the same and I'm wondering if you could offset the main nav by making it's text larger and/or putting it on a semi-transparent box or bar. I'm still having trouble reading the white text on the hair background. Another thought - since you have categories for English and Western, you really don't need the Bits, Bridles, etc. and Hats, Helmets, because those could go under their particular dicipline, which might help you with layout.
I really like your branding and glad you're carrying it through to the product pages.

Forgot to say "Reins" could also be represented under English or Western.

I personally prefer your second rough. Everything looks like it is spaced out a little better and it isn't so distracting. The first roughs font was just a little too big and too close to everything else that it looked a little scattered. Rough too looks much cleaner and more professional. The only other thing I might try to do is make all your images the same size. I think that would clean your site up more and give you better alignment with your images. Great job.

Re: Project 2 Roughs
Of the two you've presented, I'd say your second one (rough_2) is the better one. It's organized and easy to follow. The products are clearly divided into rows and each title is clearly tied to each product. It also goes with your design better as well. It highlights the images and clearly delineates the products. I can also see how it navigates very well.
Is the "Western" image to the right the category or is it another line of products? I'm not fond of the white backgrounds. I think switching them out with black backgrounds or transparent backgrounds would blend with your design better. Also, make sure there is a uniform distance between the bottom of your product titles and the top of your images.
You're on the right track.

I like these so far. I think it would benefit to give yourself a little more space between products by making them smaller or by putting less products on each row. Mostly cause when you move your screen size smaller, your products will have to shift really quickly with media queries. If you have more space it would be a little more practical for responsive design.
