Ooooh, good to see this as a functioning website.

A very detailed, easy to navigate design. Good use of subtile textures and gradients to give it a feel of being constructed out of materials rather than pixels. The navigation is prominently placed and content is easy to read and comprehend. Excellent use of color throughout the site as well.

I only have two issues with it. One, it's huge, though you mentioned you are working on making it responsive so I will withhold judgement until I see it fully put together. Two, on the home page there is an enormous white gap between the top part of the page and the bottom. If I didn't see the scrollbar, I wouldn't know there's more content after that first purple bar. Not sure what's going in there, but you might want to tighten that area up.

Very professional looking.

My guess is you looked at it in a browser other than chrome 21+. I'm playing around with the new (2012) flexbox spec to achieve some of my layout which chrome is the only browser to support currently. Didn't bother with any fallbacks or polyfills since it's not a production website.

Indeed. Just popped it open in Chrome and viola' there was the missing center section. It looks complete now.

BTW, your link on the GRC 275 website should point to Codelab now.

This is looking pretty darn nice. I do have a few things to say though at least from my point of view.

I had to use my main computer to view your site, I wanted to do critiques last night on my small netbook, but the website wasn't viewing properly on it, I think since your website is nice and big my netbook has a hard time. I wouldn't worry about that too much though : )

On the front page I feel like the top section and bottom section are too far apart. And the comment box fonts to me are waaay too small.

Otherwise keep up the good work, you'll make this website look even better during the second project I bet : )

I like the color scheme the purple pops very nicely. The navigation and header are solid and easy to read. Overall the site is professional, easily navigable and easy on the eyes. The patterns in each container add a nice little pop. Cant wait to see it responsive. I like!
