For Project 03 I am choosing to base the project on the Boston Marathon. I want to create a Nike-like campaign that revolves around the word “Grit.” The main purpose for this website is to inspire and motivate people to get signed up, so I aimed to create an almost cinematic layout for the website. I like the orange version because it looks energetic, but I also like the black layout because I think it really conveys strength well. What do you guys think?

Hi! Wow! These look amazing and I totally get a "Nike" vibe from these layouts. I really like the orange color and simple san serif font you chose. Good luck and I cant wait to see the finished site in the end!

Re: Project 03 Preliminary
Hazzie, I like the brighter design 1, and the design 2 background colors and images are too muddled for my liking. Born in Boston, I say Yay on this marathon. Maybe you could get a Nike sponsor, that's where all the money is in Web Design, right?

Hi Hazzie,
These are great! I like the first design more, mostly because I like the imagery of the woman sprinting across and the colors. I feel the second design is a bit too flat and needs something to help break it up. I can't wait to see the finished design!

Hey Hazzie,
Absolutely love how different these two takes are for project 03, it really shows off your range and thinking process in designing! Although I like how the man in the second concept overlaps the "Grit" title (p.s. love how punchy this name sounds--just perfect for describing how difficult the Boston Marathon must be), the color scheme feels somewhat similar to your project 01 final.
The first concept also pops out much more to me and feels very roomy to run around in, which I think is better on par with your event's main purpose. I also enjoy how the background hue is a soft warm tone that makes the orange lettering much easier on the eyes as well.
I think this might be because of how the images of runners look like they were originally taken from old newspaper articles, that you could possible incorporate a paper-y texture or feel into this first design as well. Although in certain spots only since it would feel busy much like noise effect present throughout the second concept, and will lose that "roomy" feeling that I had mentioned earlier. (But this is only a small suggestion since I do really enjoy how this concept looks currently).
The only thing that I think I have left to mention is the logo since I am not quite sure where it is in both concepts. Is it the "Grit" title? Like a logotype? Or will it be a different thing entirely? (Like a symbol of some sort). But moving past that, I again really do enjoy how these two concepts look and the idea behind your event. I cannot wait to see how your final rendition will turn out ! Amazing work !

Re: Project 03 Preliminary
Hi Hazzie!!
I LOVE this!! The colors of the first? The rough texture of the second? I especially love the second because of that texture it feels literally gritty. It just generally gets the vibes off really well, but if you keep the colors of the first one... I won't be mad it's so pretty.
