I managed to mess something up and in order to fix it, I copied all my index page info to a new html document. Can I overwrite my old one when I save it?

Yup! You absolutely can save over your index HTML file if you need to. If you are at all concerned, delete the old index file and replace it with the new one. That'll fix it's little red wagon!
