pre-lim designs

Here are my roughs for the products pages. There is a main product page that shows the different categories. Once a category is clicked on, it will take you to a main page for that particular product. There you will have the option of clicking on a style, which will take you to the actual piece page where you can read all about it and order it. The last page, where you can read about and order the product, will be the same for whichever design I go with, so I am only posting one of those.

Looking at your roughs for project 2 makes me think that I didn't do it correctly. I like how the layout remains the same for both the category pages and the product pages. The navigation remains at the top which makes it easy to follow. The elemental boarder keeps my attention where it needs to be. Everything looks good to me!

I'm leaning toward the second set of layouts. I like the idea of the choosing from image links rather than the side nav. From a usability point of view, that always feel like one less step to me, since I'm already drawn to the image. I really like the way you've kept the consistency of your design throughout.

I agree with Ryan... After looking at your roughs Im not sure if I did mine the right way either! I think that both of these turned out well. It would be a lot easier to visualize with the pictures and information on the page. Since these are just roughs I think that everything looks good. I am very interested to see how these turn out on your final site!

I like 2_1elements the best. :) All of the elements work well together.

Hm. It's a little tough to tell on some of these what your design intent is. Especially the ones that just have a box that says "Info & Pics".

That being said, I like the ones that have the product picture separated from the info in two columns. I think that gives you a lot of space to describe your product using nothing but photos and a nice spot to use some words to fill in the blanks. It gives the customer a chance to appreciate the products and think upon their purchase. I like your "four corners" product category page with the product category text in the middle. You use images to explain what the category is about and a "title card" to let them know what it's called. It's a great opportunity to expand your brand.

I would have like to have seen a little more of the designs, personally. Also, when you are laying these out, be careful of your margins.

I like the direction you are headed.

I really like how you're categorizing your products in your rough with the four boxes. It's visually interesting and makes the most sense. Plus it will be easy to make it responsive
