Project 3 Preliminary

Post by hamistani »

I chose to do the Harbin International Snow and Ice Sculpture Festival! I had fun coming up with these ideas! The top phone example (the one with the giant explore) is supposed to go with my second example.

I really like all of your ideas. My favorite is the one page with the most pictures and the EXPLORE homepage. Even though there is a lot going on, it seems to all work together and is fun to look at and really creative. I love the blue and white colors chosen as well. I like the white navigation and the black font because it pops against the background and is easy to read. I really can't think of anything I would change. The fonts all look nice together too. Great job.

Oooooh! Pretty. I like your second layout better. More better photos.

I especially like the home page on your second design. It has a very Black Flag quality to it. I like the way thew whole layout works actually. You have great margins on the whole thing. It knows when to let things breathe and when to tighten them up to group things together. Great choice of colors, too. Between them and the wide open spaces it makes your website feel cold. Nicely done. Your typography is well chosen, too. The blend of serif and sans-serif typefaces works to warm up and cool down different parts of the website. It's all super easy to read thanks to your great use of contrast. I like the full width dark title background images on your inner pages as well. They really set your titles off and are a great separator between your nav and your content.

I think it might look better if you justified your bodycopy. I'd also recommend scooting your homepage copy over just a touch so that the distance from the left edge of the copy to the photo next to it is the same space as each of your photos have between them.

Great work!

both layouts are very clean and balanced. They have very clear navigation. i particularly like the layout with the background of the ice castle behind the header and information. either layout will work for your website. I do prefer the option with the teal color and the bold word explore that has the first two letters a different color overlapping an image. its more visually interesting than the other oprion.
