Hello, these are my 4 roughs for project 1.
It is crazy, but my website sells new or used cruise ships for regular people. (It is like craigslist for cars)
Target audience is going to be regular Americans, who can afford to take loans at the bank for buying cruise ship for themselves =)
Slogan is "Cruise different". The whole idea is "Why to schedule your vacation and go the country you dont want to visit, if you can buy your own cruise ship and go whereever and whenever you want". I also added style guide. What do you guys think? Thanks.

I love the concept, its funny. I really like the logo. I think I like the second set better with the large picture of the cruise ship in the header and I like that the navigation doesnt have buttons, sometimes buttons are not necessary. the colors are nice and aquatic. I think you've got a winner.

I like both, this is a hard decision, but I think the second design would be better to build. Good work!

Alexey,

I like the imagery, layout, and color scheme of the second set better. I know it is a rough, but I beg of you to get rid of that typewriter font.

Hi Alexey,

I think your business is very clever! Also, I agree about the large image of the ship and the second design, it provides a great header and starting point for the pages. I think they are both great but I do favor the second. :)

Yep, I'm a big fan of the second design too. That large image pulls me in, and makes me want to look at the rest of the site. The logo looks like it was thrown up into the corner because you weren't sure where else to put it. I'd consider making it larger, and have it overlap between the header photo and the section underneath. Your color scheme is great, and as always you have a knack for laying things out well.

Selling cruise ships, eh? I think I know of a slightly used one in Italy that could be had for a song right about now.

I concur with the class. I think your second design is quite a bit stronger than your first. I like the use of imagery and alignment to move the eye around. I like the font you used in your banner as well, it's different looking.

What's going to make or break this design are the little details, drop shadows, glows, shines, slight textures and alignments. I'd recommend ditching the Courier or American Typewrite font you've used and go for something, clean, classy and sans serif, like a more legible version of the font you used in your header.

Take a look at some high end boat sales sites:

http://www.denisonyachtsales.com/

http://www.hmy.com/

http://www.baybreezeyachtsales.com/

http://y.co/story/yacht-sales/

http://www.fraseryachts.com/sale/

http://www.yachtauctions.com/

Notice their use of type, typographic alignment, texture, transparency, image placement, etc. It gives each website a classic, expensive feel. They have weight to them. Your second design is there layout wise, now play with the details to get it that last little bit.

BTW, here's the website of a legit cruise ship broker. They do tens of millions of dollars a year in sales. When you get done, will you please pitch these people a website?Image
