My Interview with Cookie

Cookie Monster is a voracious monster and one of the main characters on Sesame Street. Covered with blue fur and possessing a pair of goggly eyes, Cookie Monster has an insatiable appetite where, as his name implies, his primary craving is cookies but will eat anything thrown his way.Yet this hasn’t always been his name and lifestyle. In a 2010 post on his Twitter feed, Cookie Monster tweeted: "Me wasn’t born with name 'Cookie Monster'. It just nickname dat stuck. Me don’t remember me real name... maybe it was Sidney?”

Due to a reckless and cookie filled youth, Mr. Monster barely remembers most of his childhood. He does speak of times where he will wake up in a fog with brief thoughts about his past. One of his lowest points does remind him who he was and who he is now. As a famous child actor, cookie monster saw the cash flow in with very little to no authority figure to look out for his best interests. He started hanging out with older groups of people, viewing them as roll models. He faintly remembers being introduced to cookies by one of his older friends. "Chocolate chip cookie important to me… It mean whole lot to me… Om nom nom nom.” Yet Cookie Monster never could forget saying one of this most popular lines after his first time.

Fueled by anger and his haunting past, Mr. Monster found himself surrounded by hundreds if not thousands of cookies. He had all the money and cookies he could every want or need. Due to his drug of choice, Cookie Monster’s mind began to deteriorate which he had no knowledge of. Luckily he did have someone looking out for him, actually a whole group of people looking out.

While Cookie Monster was slowly falling apart, his new friends on Sesame Street saw what was happening to him. With his new friend’s help, they pushed him to get help. Cookie Monster beginnings to tear up, "Who care if me eat carrot or collard greens? Me also like broccoli and lettuce and lima beans. Me still Cookie Monster. That not a sham.” He was able to break his habit and enjoy what life has to offer. Cookie Monster has devoured hundreds of cookies in his 40-plus years on Sesame Street, yet hasn’t fallen back into old habits.

With Cookie Monsters birthday just around the corner, on November 2nd, I want to thank him and his fabulous costars for being here with me followed with cookie monsters thanking saying ”Me Cookie Monster. That all there is to it. Me love to eat cookie. Sometimes eat whole, sometimes me chew it.”

Humanitarian is another passion Mr.Monster has. Now that he is a changed monster, he tries to help the less fortunate in any possible way. His favorite way to help are offering pasty classes then donating the money. The pastries are usually blue.
