The Bible is organized systematically, but to someone who is new at reading the Bible, it may seem a mystery. Here are some hints on how to find your way around.
First, in the Christian Scriptures, the Bible is divided into 2 parts, the Old Testament, and the New Testament. The Old Testament is the first part of the Bible, and refers to the Holy Scriptures given to God’s chosen people, the Jews. That is divided into history, psalms, proverbs, and prophecy.
The New Testament is the Holy Scriptures that contain the gospels, which tell about Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection from the dead, the history of the early church in the Acts of the Apostles, the letters to the church, also called epistles, and the prophecy book known as the Revelation of Jesus Christ, or the Apocalypse.
When references are given to a verse, the book’s name is given first, then the chapter, then the verse. For example, John 3:16 means “book of John, chapter 3, verse 16.” Look in the table of contents to locate the book.
With this knowledge of how to find verses in the Bible, see for yourself what God's Word says about the end of this age. Keep in mind that humans are eternal beings, and even when time passes away, you have an immortal spirit that will live on, whether with God or separated from Him forever.
