Welcome to Hatchling! We are a group of individuals committed to the upbringing and instruction of dragons. If you are considering adopting one of our hatchlings, be wary that these are lifelong commitments. These creatures bond immediately and are fiercely loyal, so as a requirement we don’t ask – we demand – that you do extensive studying, and become an expert on the subject of dragons. This is only the beginning of our rigorous adoption process. In order to qualify for one of our eggs, you will have to complete various mental, physical, and emotional trials with exceptional proficiency. Even then, it’s not guaranteed you’ll have the privilege of choosing an egg.
Now, if you did your research you should know that after bonding, your hatchling will exist along the same timeframe as you, essentially sharing one life with you. So remember, when you pass on, so to shall your dragon. We still don’t understand why this happens, but as with most things about this creature, there is an unexplainable magic that permeates their existence. As a result, a bonded pair can expect to live for hundreds of years, maybe more. The longest known duration was 883 Sun Cycles, shared by Sorin and his partner Braska. Therefore, and we cannot stress this enough, dragons are not pets. Their joining to you far exceeds our human capacity to understand. The closest comparison we can make, is to stop thinking of yourself as separate things. You must recognize one another as the same being, with the same soul and the same mind.
If you are fortunate enough to pass our trials, expect to stay on the island for up to 1 year after your egg hatches. This period of time is very critical to the growth, training, and bond of your hatchling, and will be explained in more detail when it’s relevant.
Our sanctuary is located on the Faroe Islands, an archipelago composed of 18 landmasses which lies northwest of Scotland and halfway between Iceland and Norway. We picked this location specifically for its isolation, vast openness, and abundance of fresh and clean air no matter what the season. Here, our hatchlings have ample room to grow, soar, and hunt. The weather is maritime and quite changeable, from moments of brilliant sunshine, to misty hill fog, to large downpours of rain and snow. We consider this harsh climate perfect for the breeding and training of our dragons, as it provides them with a variety of conditions to train and adapt to, mainly in regards to their flying skills. Faroe also offers plenty of seafood rich in nutrients, which represents the bulk of their diet, alongside flocks of wild seabirds, and as a treat certain red meats.
